About the role:

The Platform Engineering group owns and operates the core systems that enable collaboration across Modular—from multi-cloud infrastructure to a distributed CI system to insight and analytics dashboards. In the Platform team, we directly support development.

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to own and improve the systems that support our Cloud Inference products. In this role, you’ll balance hands-on development with technical leadership, designing and implementing new features while also investing in team knowledge and skills. We are looking for someone passionate about building multi-cloud services & deploying AI services at scale.

LOCATION: This role will be based in our office in Los Altos, CA (Minimum 2 Days/week). Candidates based in the US or Canada are welcome to apply. Relocation assistance will not be provided

What you will do:

Shape the technical platform for large scale AI inference
Promote technical and team excellence through collaboration and leadership
Develop and maintain core platform capabilities — traditional and high performance networking, k8s clusters, etc

What you bring to the table:

5+ years of relevant experience
Experience maintaining Kubernetes clusters and applications
Experience building, deploying, and supporting cloud services (bonus points for multi-cloud)
Comfort working across clouds, tools, and systems—focusing on problem-solving rather than specific technologies
Able to articulate and implement security best-practices
Strong collaboration skills and ability to share information with internal engineering and product teams
Alignment with our core company cultural values

Helpful but not required:

Experience with GPUs, high performance networking (RDMA, infiniband, etc)
Geographically distributed multi-region hub-and-spoke cluster topologies
Mojo programming language experience

The estimated base salary range for this role to be performed in the US, regardless of the state, is $198,000 - $286,000 USD.

The salary for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of permissible, non-discriminatory job-related factors, which include but are not limited to education, training, work experience, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future. The total compensation for a candidate will also include annual target bonus, equity, and benefits, with equity making up a significant portion of your total compensation.
